How credits work and refresh

Understanding Content Credits

Credits are the currency for content generation in LinkLoom. Understanding how credits work helps you maximize your subscription value and plan your content production effectively.

What Uses Credits

One Credit Per Generation

The following actions each consume one credit:

  • Creating content from a template — Using any prompt template to generate an article
  • Creating content from a URL — Generating an article based on a webpage
  • Full content generation — Creating an article from scratch with AI assistance

Credit-Free Actions

These features are unlimited and don't consume credits:

  • Editing existing content — All editing, formatting, and revisions
  • Running optimization analyses — SEO, AEO, and GEO analysis
  • Humanization — Processing content to improve human-likeness
  • Content expansion — Expanding sections within existing content
  • Exporting content — Downloading in any format
  • Publishing — Sending to connected platforms

How Credits Reset

Credits reset based on your billing cycle:

  • Monthly subscribers: Reset on your subscription date each month
  • Annual subscribers: Still reset monthly on your original subscription date

Example: If you subscribed on March 15th, your credits reset on the 15th of each month.

Important: Unused credits do not roll over to the next period. Use them or lose them.

Monitoring Your Credit Usage

Dashboard Display

Your remaining credits appear in several locations:

  • The dashboard header shows current credits
  • The Create page displays credits before generation
  • Settings > Usage shows detailed credit history

Usage History

View exactly how you've used credits:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Usage or Billing
  3. See a breakdown by date and action

When You're Running Low

Approaching Your Limit

LinkLoom notifies you when you're running low on credits:

  • Warning at 20% remaining
  • Alert at 10% remaining
  • Final warning at 0 credits

Out of Credits?

Options when you've used all credits:

  1. Wait for reset — If you can wait until your next billing date
  2. Upgrade your plan — Get more monthly credits permanently
  3. Purchase add-ons — Business plan users can buy credit bundles

Maximizing Credit Value

Write Better Prompts

Invest time in crafting detailed, specific prompts:

  • Better prompts = better first outputs
  • Reduces need for regeneration
  • One well-prompted generation beats multiple poor ones

Use the Right Template

Choose templates that match your content goals:

  • Templates are optimized for their purpose
  • Using the right template reduces editing needed

Leverage Free Features

Remember what doesn't cost credits:

  • Use expansion to lengthen content (free)
  • Use humanization to improve quality (free)
  • Edit extensively after generation (free)

Plan Strategically

Prioritize credit usage for high-value content:

  • Important articles for key campaigns
  • Complex topics that benefit from AI assistance
  • Time-sensitive content where speed matters

For simpler content, consider writing manually or using expansion to build from a brief outline.
